Feast Of Unleavened Bread
by PJ

V'yakra/Leviticus 23:6-8, "6 On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. 7 On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. 8 For seven days present an offering made to the LORD by fire. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.' "

For seven (7) days beginning the sundown after Pessach, there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. G-d decreed that only unleavened bread should be eaten with the Pessach lamb and that only unleavened bread should be found throughout our property for seven (7) days. Devarim/Deuteronomy 16:1-7 "1 Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover of the LORD your God, because in the month of Abib he brought you out of Egypt by night. 2 Sacrifice as the Passover to the LORD your God an animal from your flock or herd at the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for his Name. 3 Do not eat it with bread made with yeast, but for seven days eat unleavened bread, the bread of affliction, because you left Egypt in haste—so that all the days of your life you may remember the time of your departure from Egypt. 4 Let no yeast be found in your possession in all your land for seven days. Do not let any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until morning."

How much yeast did the L-rd say should be in the possession of the land? NONE! - Just a note to the Jewish leadership who thinks it's okay to sell yeast in Jerusalem and all of Israel during Pessach.

I always find such great satisfaction in the fact that Yeshua left no detail undone in our redemption. From the very beginning, Yeshua was the Bread of Heaven. He was the Word made flesh! This is why being born in Bethlehem (Beyth Lechem "House of Bread" in Hebrew and Beit Lahm "House of Meat" in Arabic) was so fitting. Bethlehem's soil was fruitful for both grain and fruit. Yeshua was the Word made flesh.  He was the meat of the Word. Amazing isn't it?

Yeshua, the Bread of Heaven, knew no sin. Leaven represents sin. Yeshua was the unleavened bread leading a sinless and a holy life.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread is a week of purity and self denial. It represents the walk of holiness. It represents the sinless life.

The crucifixion was a horrible way to die. It was designed to last three days and to terrorize the victims. However, Yeshua only lived on the cross six (6) hours. I find it very representative of the six (6) days of mankind's rule over planet earth. The great Shabat is yet to come in the seventh (7) day.

Matzah itself is a picture of Moshiach. It is an unleavened bread. It is striped and pierced with holes. Is it any wonder that Yeshua broke the bread and told His disciples to take and eat for it was His body broken for many?  He was pierced and striped for us.

Yeshua was sacrificed on Pessach and buried at sundown, the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Why? Yeshua had another Feast of Israel to keep!
